Friday Lounge Session: Indigo Lounge

Indigo Lounge is a Perth‑based jazz ensemble known for its warm, atmospheric blend of Bossa Nova, Latin Jazz, and Smooth Jazz. Since July 2025, the group has held a standing monthly residency at the East Fremantle Yacht Club, performing to consistently full audiences.

The band features a dynamic lineup of musicians: Kama Austen (soprano vocals), Arturo Maldonado (acoustic and electric guitar), Gordon McPhail (electric bass), Bianca Maldonado (alto saxophone and clarinet), and Russell Thomas (drums). Together, they create a refined yet inviting sound shaped by the rhythms of Brazil, the elegance of classic jazz, and the smooth textures of contemporary interpretations.

Their repertoire pays homage to iconic artists such as Tom Jobim, Astrud Gilberto, Frank Sinatra, Nina Simone, Stevie Wonder, Eva Cassidy, Sade, and Ella Fitzgerald, weaving familiar melodies with fresh arrangements that highlight the band’s versatility and musical chemistry. Indigo Lounge has become known for performances that feel intimate yet vibrant, offering audiences a sophisticated listening experience that lingers long after the final note.
